Levels of Heavy Metals in Some Vegetables and Human Health Risk Assessment in Loumbila Area, Burkina Faso

Contamination by heavy metals of soil, water and agricultural products is currently a major problem environmental pollution in the world. The consumption plants contaminated with can be cause diseases such as cancers, number cases which only growing. objective this study was to determine concentration copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), cadmium (Cd) from vegetable farm LOUMBILA assessment health risks linked plants. In paper, metal measured using model AANALYST 200 flame atomic absorption spectrometer PERKIN ELMER. level Zn vegetables Loumbila farms ranged between 42.95 mg/kg 78 mg/kg. concentrations studies were higher than permissible levels set FAO/WHO (20 mg/kg). Pb varied 1.73 27.02 All (0.3 Daily intake Ni, Cr MTDI, so problems related Pb. LOUMBILA, estimated daily decreased following order: > Cu Ni Cr. Hazard index values for carrot, onion, lettuce, green bean onion leaves greater (>) one (1) indicates that there might potential risk those consuming these vegetables. Target Cancer Risk (TCR) analysis also revealed cancer induced Cu, Zn, due leaves, bean, bell pepper because their TCR above threshold.
